Welcome to the 2010 KC 3and2 Baseball season. The league is excited to have your team with us for what promises to be a terrific season of baseball. This memo will briefly summarize the plans and calendar for the upcoming season. There will be more email updates as these dates approach, and there is more information on our website. If you are signing up a new team (or changing team information from an old team), please make sure you have gone to the website www.kc3and2.com and provided the information requested under the “Start a New Team” button on the left hand side of the home page.
1. Regular Season Schedule: The schedule will be electronic and posted on the league’s website by mid-April. We need your timely cooperation with the timetable below in order to get this done.
2. Team Selected “Blackout Dates”: Each team will have the option to select no more than 6 “blackout dates” on which they do not want games scheduled. The purpose of this option is to allow teams to participate in tournaments and to avoid having to reschedule games once the final schedule is set. Managers should look at calendars now to determine what tournaments they want to play in, and should also consult with their parents to learn of conflicts with vacation dates, family commitments, graduations, confirmations, First Communions, camps, etc., which may prevent a team from fielding enough players for a game. In order to accommodate these dates, we need to get them from you well in advance of the season. The deadline for requesting blackout dates is March 10. You should email your request to
under subject “3and2 Blackout Date Request.” Include your team name, level of play (e.g., Rookie, Midget C, etc.) and dates. Each team is limited to 6 dates (e.g., a Friday, Saturday and Sunday = 3 dates).
3. Timetable and Deadlines:
February 17: Deadline for team sign up. You need to commit to fielding a team and provide the team name by this date. Below is a list of the current list of teams for 2010. If your team is not listed, you should sign up through the website no later than February 17.
February 24: On- line player registration opens. Detailed on-line registration information is available on the website. Player registration will close on April 8.
March 2: Packet Night at 7:00 p.m. at IBEW Local 124. Attendance is mandatory from each team. This is an information night and also a chance to have any questions answered. The League will accept individual registrations on this night for players who cannot sign up on line. Practice times and fields will also be assigned.
March 10: Blackout Date deadline. Maximum of 6 dates per team.
March 21: Mandatory Coaches Clinic for Rookie League. The clinic is tentatively scheduled for 6:00 p.m. More information will follow as the date approaches.
March 31: Draft regular season schedules provided to managers only. Managers will review a preliminary, draft schedule to confirm that blackout dates are honored. These are preliminary and not to be shared with parents.
April 7: Deadline to report any problems with your draft schedule to the League.
April 8: Player registration deadline. All of your players must be paid and registered by April 8.
April 15: Regular season schedules live on league website.
April 22-25: KC 3and2 Preseason Tournament. Requires separate sign up and fee. Details on league website.
April 30: Opening Day.
May 9: Mother’s Day; no games scheduled.
May 21-24: Memorial Day weekend; no games scheduled.
July 1: Regular Season ends.
July 2-5: Fourth of July weekend; no games scheduled.
July 6-7: All Star Games.
July 9: Playoffs begin.
July 18: “Drop dead” date; Playoffs end.
4. Schedule Changes: Once the final schedule is set, the league strongly discourages any attempt to reschedule a game (other than rainouts). If your team has an unforeseeable problem arise and you have made every effort to avoid rescheduling, your first step should be to call the opposing manager. If no agreement is reached, your team will forfeit. If the opposing manager consents to a change, you should agree upon a new date after checking the league’s on-line Master Schedule to ensure field availability. The league will not open the park for one game, so you should select a date and time where games are being played on other fields as well. Once you have a proposed date, contact your league manager. Rescheduling, if unforeseeable and absolutely necessary and agreed upon by both teams, is subject to league approval and umpire availability. Rainouts will be rescheduled by the league and you will be notified of the new date.
